A New Chapter - Starting A Travel Blog

It's January 2017 and I've decided that it's the right time to start something new. To have this platform for capturing and sharing my favourite adventure moments. Being a photographer, my camera has pretty much melted into an extension of my arm. And as much as I am a 'be-present-and-live-in-the-moment' kind of girl, I am guilty of coming home after every trip (or sometimes just a Sunday stroll in the park) with thousands and thousands of captured moments and in my mind planning the next possible opportunity to go out and explore.

To give a bit of a back story, I'm from Latvia (is that where dracula is from? and is that in wales? are so far my favourites) but for the past almost 5 years I've called London my home. I work freelance as a photographer & videographer and create a ton of content for many influencers and brands (you can see a selection of that on my portfolio website) but I wanted to have this space to separate the two - the 'work' work and the 'i'm going away but still have my gear with me, whyyy is it so heavy' work. So expect this blog to be very picture & video heavy!

For me, traveling and exploring has always been part of the 'masterplan'. It's always been the one thing to save up for, the best reward, and an absolute lifechanger. It's the thing that makes me feel a real spark inside. And I'm sure I'm not the only one here ;) We live in this amazing time where we can wake up on one side of the planet and go to sleep on the other.

Some of my most vivid childhood memories are ones from roadtrips accross Europe with my family. I remember the sweater I wore on my first-ever flight, the taste of pizza from a food truck just off the beach somewhere in Corsica, and my brother's mixtapes playing to fill the countless hours spent on the road. Whenever I listen to 'Modular Mix' by Air, it takes me right back to our car, driving in the middle of a winter's night. Dad at the wheel, mum sleeping in the seat next to him, me and my brother sleeping in the back. I must have been about 10. I remember waking up deep in the night and looking up at the stars, probably one of the first moments I thought how insanely cool it is to be one of the tiny particles in this universe.

I love making travel plans & I've decided that this is the year I will try and make as many of them possible as I can. I've always known that I don't want to settle in one place. How can I when there's so much to discover! So I hope I can share something beautiful & hopefully something useful as well. Shall we see how it goes? x
